Indigenous Sports Grants Program (ISGP) 

New Round of the Indigenous Sports Grants Program (ISGP) Now Open for Applications

The 2016-17 ISGP is now open for applications and will close 3 May 2017 (or once funding is exhausted).

Through the 2016-17 ISGP eligible individuals can apply for up to $200 towards their registration or membership in:

  • an organised sport or active recreation competition or program of at least 6 weeks in duration;
  • an education and training opportunity that relates directly to organised sport or active recreation; or
  • a representative sport or active recreation opportunity.

Examples

Examples of subsidised registrations and memberships could include:

  • Basketball competitions;
  • Swimming lessons;
  • Gym memberships;
  • Rugby league coaching courses;
  • Hockey refereeing courses;
  • National gymnastics championships as an athlete; or
  • National football championships as a coach or manager.

About the ISGP

The ACT Government's ISGP is a grants program for eligible individuals seeking support for their participation in sport and recreation activities.

The primary objective of the ISGP is to make participation opportunities in sport and recreation more accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly people that are disadvantaged. The ISGP has an emphasis on a structured, frequent level of participation that supports positive health, social and wellbeing outcomes.

Funding for the ISGP is provided to the ACT Government through the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s (DPM&C) Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS).

Eligible Region

Reflecting the broader region role already played by many ACT sport and recreation organisations, the ISGP covers applicants from the following areas:

  • The Australia capital Territory
  • Braidwood
  • Bungendore
  • Bywong
  • Captain's Flat
  • Collector
  • Gundaroo
  • Murrumbateman
  • Queanbeyan
  • Sutton
  • Tarago
  • Yass

What You Need To Apply

To complete this application the Applicant will be required to attach:

  • a Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander form; and 
    • If the Applicant is 17 years or younger, a Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander form of the parent or guardian completing the application will be accepted.
  • registration/membership documentation for their chosen activity.
    • this documentation must be from the Activity Provider and include key details including:
      • The Applicant's details;
      • Details of the activity; and
      • The cost of registration/membership.
