Sport and Recreation Facilities fees and charges have been set for 2017-18, these new fees are effective 1 December 2017, this means we will treat any bookings from 1 October to 30 November on the old rates. Any new bookings as of 1st of December will be subject to these new rates. In order to secure facilities for Summer sports we had booked grounds up to the March shutdown. Those invoices will be revised in line of these new rates.
For more information, please go to Sportsground Booking and Information.
Phillip 4, located on Spoering St, Phillip is currently being redeveloped and will not be available to hire until further notice.
Changes to the Sportsground Booking Process
As of 1 July 2016 changes to the process for hiring ACT Government sportsgrounds will come into effect. These changes are designed to better distinguish commercial and non-commercial user groups and discontinue the practice of third party hiring arrangements.
For further information on the changes please go to our Commercial and Non-Commercial Sportsgrounds Hirers page.
Wet weather and ground closures
All ACT Government Sportsgrounds are currently: OPEN
Please contact (02) 6207 5957 for ground closure information. Please note that this information is only updated when grounds are closed and reopened, at 9am each weekday. For weekend closures please contact your association or club.
Each year, sportsgrounds are closed to formal sporting use as part of the restoration program giving the fields a much needed break following the wear and tear of seasonal sport.
Restoration activities include aeration, top dressing, over sowing and fertilizing to ensure a full cover of healthy turf is restored.
The program also allows for important maintenance operations to take place in preparation for winter competitions.
There are some exemptions where fields remain open for training and playing in cricket finals.
The Nicholls synthetic field and Woden Park (for track activities) is also exempt from the shutdown as no specific maintenance is required.
During April and October each year, Sporting Associations have the exclusive right to make bookings at all playing fields as part of the bi-annual allocation process. Exclusivity applies for bookings between October - March (summer season) and April -September (winter season). From 1 May and 1 November, this exclusivity expires and grounds are available for all hirers.
Accordingly, no ground availability information can be displayed online for either the summer or winter seasons until the allocation period expires.
In certain circumstances a conditional booking may be accepted. Please contact the Sportsgrounds Maintenance and Improvements Office on 6207 5141 for details.
