Sport and Recreation Facilities manages approximately 300 hectares of irrigated sportsgrounds throughout Canberra, which is one of the largest portfolios of sportsgrounds that is managed by any single municipal authority in Australia.
This large asset base provides the Canberra community with convenient access to quality playing fields that contributes to the ACT having the highest levels of participation in sport and physical activity in the country. Upgrades to the Phillip Oval precinct are complete
Upgrades to the Phillip Oval precinct are complete with the opening of a new-look pavilion in August 2018. The upgrades will provide a better experience for players and spectators with significant upgrades to the main pavilion and surrounds, and a new scoreboard and floodlights. The upgrades make Phillip Oval the second tier oval for AFL and cricket after Manuka Oval.
