Sportsground Booking and Information
Changes to the Sportsground Booking Process
As of 1 July 2016 changes to the process for hiring ACT Government sportsgrounds will come into effect. These changes are designed to better distinguish commercial and non-commercial user groups and discontinue the practice of third party hiring arrangements.
For further information on the changes please go to our Commercial and Non-Commercial Sportsgrounds Hirers page.
Wet weather and ground closures
All ACT Government Sportsgrounds are currently: OPEN
Please contact (02) 6207 5957 for ground closure information. Please note that this information is only updated when grounds are closed and reopened, at 9am each weekday. For weekend closures please contact your association or club.
You can check the availability of sportsgrounds by date and activity at our Sportsground Availability page. This online option is not available in either October or April next year as grounds are allocated to Associations and Clubs pending resolution of seasonal requirements.
With the exception of the Hall 102 (Piped Arena) and Hall 103 (BBQ Area), all sportsground facilities are only available to be booked within the current seasonal period.
Maintenance Shutdown Period
All sportsground, with the exception of Nicholls 1 and Pearce 2 (synthetic playing surface) are closed biannually to allow staff to maintain a quality playing surface at all facilities. This work includes the erection/removal of goal posts and field renovation work. Sportsground bookings will not be accepted during the maintenance shutdown periods of 18-31 March and 17-30 September.
During April and October each year, Sporting Associations have the exclusive right to make bookings at all playing fields as part of the bi-annual allocation process. Exclusivity applies for bookings between October - March (summer season) and April -September (winter season). From 1 May and 1 November, this exclusivity expires and grounds are available for all hirers.
Accordingly, no ground availability information can be displayed online for either the summer or winter seasons until the allocation period expires.
In certain circumstances a conditional booking may be accepted. Please contact the Sportsgrounds Maintenance and Improvements Office on 6207 5141 for details.
