Sport and Recreation Contacts


There are three areas within ACT Government supporting sport and recreation in the ACT, all reporting to the Minister for Sport and Recreation.

Sport and Recreation

Sport and Recreation (within Chief Ministers, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate) is in the business of developing the ACT Community’s physical activity levels from social through to high performance participation through infrastructure planning, athlete support, sector partnerships and capacity building programs to contribute to health, social and economic benefits.

ACT Academy of Sport:

Sports and Recreation Facilities

Sports and Recreation Facilities (within Transport Canberra and City Services) is responsible for the maintenance and management of ACT Government sportsgrounds and associated facilities, including the allocation and booking of sportsgrounds, along with the development and execution of capital works projects for new sportsgrounds facilities, and the improvement or refurbishment of existing facilities.

ACT Property Group

ACT Property Group (within Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate) is responsible for the management of five ACT Government owned swimming pools (Civic, Tuggeranong, Gungahlin, Dickson and Manuka), along with the development and execution of capital works projects for new aquatic facilities, and the improvement or refurbishment of existing pools.
