2026 ACT Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Survey
The ACT Government is undertaking the 2026 Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Survey to renew the Sport and Active Recreation Infrastructure Survey - Proposal Register.
First developed following the 2023 survey, the Proposal Register has helped inform infrastructure planning and investment across the Territory. Since its release, a number of identified projects have secured funding, received ACT Government commitments, or been delivered.
The 2026 survey will help identify current and future facility and infrastructure priorities across the sport and active recreation sector, supporting planning and investment decisions through to 2036.
To strengthen sector engagement and capture local infrastructure needs, the survey will be delivered through a two-stage process:
- Stage 1: ACT clubs and affiliated organisations, District Community Councils and Licensed Clubs are invited to identify priority infrastructure projects.
Opens: Monday, 7 September 2026
Closes: Friday, 2 October 2026
- Stage 2: ACT peak sport and recreation bodies will review affiliate feedback and prepare a coordinated sport-specific submission.
Opens: Monday, 12 October 2026
Closes: Friday, 6 November 2026
This process will help ensure that both local priorities and broader Territory-wide infrastructure needs are considered in future planning and investment decisions.

2023 ACT Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Survey
In 2023 the ACT Government undertook a survey inviting recognised ACT peak sport and recreation bodies, ACT district community councils and ACT Licensed Clubs to submit up to fifteen (15) priority infrastructure proposals for inclusion in a register of potential projects in the ACT.
In response to the Sport and Active Recreation Infrastructure Survey (the Survey), we received submissions from 54 eligible organisations and a total of 267 proposals.
A Proposal Register including all the proposals from eligible organisations has been developed together with a Listening Report which provides a high-level analysis of the responses received through the Survey.
The Proposal Register will assist the ACT Government to make future decisions in relation to sport and recreation infrastructure projects in the short to medium term.
